Every time I step out of my home, I can’t help but notice others. I notice how other men dress and try to learn from them when I like something about how they dress. I also notice things that make me cringe. This article is about the latter. I have listed down 5 style mistakes that men make quite a lot around me and something you should definitely avoid. Let’s start.
Long Socks under moccasins
I am sure this is acceptable for many people but for me, it’s a no. And be clear, I am not talking about loafers here. It’s perfectly alright to wear loafers with long socks. But wearing long socks with moccasins looks like you’ve come out straight from the 70’s. Moccasin is inherently a summer shoe and really looks better without socks. In case you suffer from sweaty feet syndrome, then you can definitely go for no-show socks. They are not visible but they serve the purpose.
White Dress Socks
This is one of the biggest style mistakes ever. Remember this one tip while you’re dressing up – your socks should look like an extension of your trousers and thus, the color tone of you socks should match your trousers. This is not a hard line rule but a thumb rule to prevent yourself from making a fashion blunder. Once you get the sense of your personal style, you can go for a wide range of options like colored, argyle or patterned socks. All this means one thing – white dress socks are a big no. In fact, I would not wear a white sock anywhere other than while I am playing some sport.
Improper trouser length
Men need to understand how lousy they look when their trousers puddle on the top of their shoes. Men also need to know that they look too feminine when they go overboard with cropping their trouser length. I have recently noticed many fashion bloggers doing this. A trouser or jeans that is too short will make you look stupid. Remember that these minor things can create an impression that you wouldn’t like. Tailor your pants so that they fall over your shoes with no or maximum one break.
Super Skinny Jeans
I know this can get me a lot of flak. You may have come across pictures of style influencers looking all trendy and stylish sporting their super skinny jeans. While their pictures look great, but to be honest, these jeans look quite unattractive in real life. A slim fit jeans will always look so much better than a skinny fit.
Badly cuffed jeans
I rate this quite high in the list of style mistakes because not many people realize they are doing it. Cuffing up jeans helps you look more polished by giving you the perfect jean length you desire but there is a way you do it. If you don’t want to look like a construction worker, don’t do what you see below.
Ideally, your cuffs should look like what you see below. Sleek and thin. Do not go for a single long fold . Instead, roll your jeans more than once but not more than 2-3 folds.
