Chukka boots- The shining star of the boot industry and the most-loved all-season boots in the market. I have already talked about lace-up boots in one of my previous articles linked here. Let me start with explaining what exactly a chukka boot is.
Characteristics of a Chukka boot
The chukka boot is strictly around ankle height unlike the lace-up or chelsea boots that go higher than the ankle.
The chukka boot only has 2 or maximum 3 eyelets on each side. If the boot has any more eyelets, it is more of a derby lace-up boot.
Chukka boots can be found in either leather or suede. Suede chukkas are one of my most favourite casual footwear items.
The heels are usually shorter compared to lace-up or chelsea boots.
Dressy Chukkas usually have leather sole while Casual chukkas have a rubber sole. Crepe soles have also become quite popular. Suede chukkas with crepe soles are called “Desert Boots”
Why Chukka Boots are special?
Casual Sneakers are more of a summer shoe and lace-up leather boots are traditionally associated with autumn or winter. Infact, there are not many boots that are suitable for the high summer heat. But the chukka boots can be worn round the year in any season. The major reason for this is their height. As mentioned earlier, they are ankle length and not too high like other boots making them suitable for warm weather.
They are also incredibly versatile. Sneakers are a staple in the summer season but it’s impossible to dress them up. But the chukka boots can be dressed up by wearing them under trousers and can also be dressed down by wearing them under Jeans
Favourite Summer Boot Recommendation
My personal favourite is the Sand Suede Chukkas (or Desert boot). Sand itself is so synonymous to summer. Be it the tropical summer beach vibes or the sands of a dry hot desert, I find the color so suitable for summer. Also, it mellows down many of the bright colour outfits that you might want to sport in the summer. Also, it’s a boot guys- it will make you look classy in summer. Is there a better deal?
I highly recommend atleast a pair of suede chukka boots in your wardrobes. You can go for leather, may be later because you will really want to use the suede version a lot more. That comes from personal experience. Do you want to know more about boots? Kindly let me know in the comments section below.
