I want to start this article by reiterating how important having a skincare routine is. If you really want to age gracefully, it is high time you get serious about your skincare. I took a long time to realize this but since the time I have started taking care of my skin, I can feel the difference it makes. I am stating down five very basic tips that you can follow to make your skin look healthy.
Wash you face twice everyday
Washing you face in the morning and after you get back from work will ensure there is no dirt or bacteria resting on you face that otherwise can clog pores and lead to acne. Do not overdo it though because it can make your skin too dry and devoid of essential oils.
Moisturize after wash
Moisturizing your skin makes it look hydrated and fresh, prevents dullness and flaking and keeps your skin smooth all day long. A common misconception is that using moisturizer on oily skin will cause more acne. In fact, when you cleanse your face, oily skin tends to produce even more oil to combat the dryness. Moisturizing tends to maintain the balance and prevent this to happen. There are many oil-free moisturizers available for oily skin types that won’t cause acne
Apply sunblock if going out
Protecting your skin from the UV rays of the sun is not just important to prevent burn, but it is also very important to prevent pre-mature aging. Exposure to sun can cause the skin to develop wrinkles sooner than you might expect.
Exfoliate once a week
Exfoliating your skin once or twice a week will ensure that dead cells are replaced by new and healthy cells. This will turn your complexion from dull and tired to vibrant and smooth. Do not overdo it because it can cause skin irritation and inflammation.
Don’t touch your face often
You might want to believe that your hands are always clean but they are not. You touch a thousand things on a typical day and it is best to keep those hands away from your skin to prevent bacteria reaching your face and causing acne.
I will write articles about detailed skincare routines and products in future . Keep watching this space.
